I wanted a bookcase for our living room, but had a very low budget.
This is something I came up with to add a personalized touch to our place.
We found a inexpensive bookcase at Target for only 30 dollars. Once we put it together we noticed how dark it made the room look so I tried to find an easy way to brighten the bookcase.
Here is the finished product:
So how I made it.
Shopping list:
Stencils (sturdy)
Fabric of Choice
Hot Glue Gun
Acrylic Paint
I found the supplies at Michael's, and the burlap on sale at Joann's
We used two different types of stencils to create this look on a tan burlap. You can either use stencils or stamps. With burlap you need to use a lot of pain though, because a lot of it will go through the holes of the fabric.
Each piece was completed separately. We did this so we didn't have to do a repeated pattern all the way down. Instead we made each piece unique.
Then just remove the shelves and hot glue the fabric to the back of the bookcase.
When it was complete, I put away all of our books to complete the look.
This fun and easy craft took about 45 dollars to complete.
Hope yours turns out well.
